From Ophthalmologists for Ophthalmologists and Eye Care Specialists involved in International Humanitarian Ophthalmology
ESIO (European Society of International Ophthalmology) is a Society that advocates for international ophthalmology. It is a society from ophthalmlogists for ophthalmologists, eye care workers and anyone that is involved in international ophthalmology.
We have been organising a conference biannually for the last couple of years. ESIO has been looking into all sorts of topics in international/humanitarion ophthalmology. In recent years we transformed our conference to go more in depth with certain topics, having a 20-30 minute presentation followed by a one hour discussion with the plenum. It is more about discussion, out of the box thinking and brainstorming rather than presenting wonderful results. We do however still keep our conventional format on Saturdays, where colleagues can present programs or topics of interest.
